In a match with a great atmosphere, DVSC SCHAEFFLER scored two points against IK Sävehof with good play.

The day we’ve been waiting for, has arrived, DVSC SCHAEFFLER introduced itself in the Champions League. And with a good game and a win. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves…

The match started with a goal by Gréta Kácsor, and our national team player continued to play with great enthusiasm. He scored a goal from a through ball and after a clever possession from his own half. Gréti’s third hit gave us an 8-4 lead. Then, at halftime, our advantage melted away, the Swedish champion overtook us at 10. We regained the lead with a goal by Jovana Jovovics, and this was the signal for a big attack, we soon led 17-11. Excitement remained even for the moments before the break, Thea Stankiewicz’s seven was saved by Catherine Gabriel. Our advantage was stable in the continuation, and in the critical moments there was always someone who pushed the team through the stalemate.

When necessary, Petra Vámos raced past the visiting defenders, or Gréti Kácsor scored important goals. However, the Swedes tried everything, opened up their defense and tried the seven-on-six game as well. Approaching the end of the game, we led 30-22, and although the Swedes made up for their deficit in the final game, the victory was not in danger. DVSC SCHAEFFLER was introduced to the Champions League with victory, and the fans celebrated their favorites for many minutes.

Jesper Östlund, coach, IK Savehof: – We met with a quite good team. We don’t have such strong teams in our league. We tried to do everything to catch them in the result, but we failed. Maybe if we can Perhaps if we didn’t play well only in the last 15 minutes, the outcome of the match would have been better.

Nina Koppang, Ik Savehof: We are not used to this level in our championship. It was a very tough game for us, we fought hard and for the first game it is not bad, but we have to develop for the future games.

Szilágyi Zoltán, coach, DVSC SCHAEFFLER – The winning start was the most important thing. We defenitely want to win our home matches and it was vitel to get the 2 points against the Swedes. We started the way a match like this should be. We had our us and downs, but overall we played great handball for the most of the match.

Vámos Petra, captain, DVSC SCHAEFFLER: This was my first champions league match, we talked a lot about it earlier with the girls, and I am really happy that I could help the team with my performance. I am really glad that our defence was pretty okay, but I think we need to improve with our pivot defence.
