DVSC SCHAEFFLER also won at Savehof’s home, finishing in fifth place in Group A of the Champions League with 15 points. Vipers is coming in the play-offs!
As a matter of fact, many people were not interested in Savehof’s last Champions League match. Together with the 30-person fan base from Debrecen, there were maybe 200 people in the Partille Arena. This way, you could easily hear the players during the match, which was a new kind of experience, at least for those coming from Debrecen.
Let’s say there was something to discuss at the beginning of the match, as we spoiled five attacks in a row. Our team couldn’t overcome Johanna Bundsen’s mind, so it’s no wonder that the home team took the lead. From the sixth attack, we only managed to score and from then on, the goals from Debrecen came in a row. Another issue is that the defense was not really organized at the beginning, so the net was often shaken here and there. It was refreshing to watch Nina Szabó, now making her debut in the Champions League, who already had three goals in the tenth minute. The two teams went head-to-head in the first quarter of an hour, then Loki got up to speed, the rush goals came, so we built up a four-goal advantage by the 20th minute. In the meantime, Dodó Hornyák scored his first BL goal of the season from our own penalty area, into an empty net. The start of the half was a bit hectic, so DVSC SCHAEFFLER could not pull away any better.
We witnessed an interesting scene at the beginning of the second half. Töpfner’s Alexandra Töpfner got into Bundsen’s seven, so the ball just crossed the goal line. The goal was first given by the referees, and then they decided to review it with the help of the video referee. The only problem with this is that, according to the rules, VOGO cannot be used for this purpose… By the way, it turned out that there was a goal on the video, so it doesn’t matter, but it doesn’t matter. The referees could not confuse the girls from Debrecen with this either, Loki trailed by six goals in the middle of the second half. In the continuation, it was possible to further increase the difference. Two minutes before the end, there were ten among them, of which nine remained in the end. DVSC SCHAEFFLER won their last group game in the Champions League without any effort. Just for the sake of historical fidelity, the BL rookie Nina Szabó was chosen as the best player of the match. Evaluating the entire group stage, it can be said that the team got the most out of this season, in fact, maybe even more.

MASTER SCALE:
Zoltán Szilágyi: I am satisfied with the result, overall we won with confidence. Anyway, we didn’t start well, the defense wasn’t really organized at the beginning, but we settled down in the middle of the half, we were able to score quick goals and I think that was the key to the victory. In the second half, it was already a fun game, the girls enjoyed the match. We got 15 points in the group, which I think is a huge result.
Jesper Östlund: I’m disappointed, the difference was too big at the end. We have injured people, not everyone was available, but I don’t want to dwell on that. Maybe we were a little tired by the end. It must be admitted that the better team won, DVSC SCHAEFFLER also defeated Győr last week, a very strong team. We still have room for improvement, but we keep working.
