What a pity for the end

Although DVSC SCHAEFFLER played excellently for more than 40 minutes in the home of champion and cup winner Ferencváros, a short circuit of a few minutes was enough for the capital city’s team to win the match. With this, it was mathematically decided that we finish in fourth place in the league.

This time, the Debrecen detachmentleft for the capital with two buses. In addition to the vehicle transporting the team, the fans also filled another. Some people came to the match by car, so there were approximately 80 DVSC SCHAEFFLER fans dressed in red and white in the away sector, which, let’s face it, looked good in the green crowd.

The game didn’t start badly either. Although Fradi took the lead with a lucky, bouncing shot, we were already leading by 3:2. It looked like the girls were really pumped up for this last match. Even though Fradi turned around and led by two around the tenth minute, Loki equalized and then took the lead again. Up front, Vámos, Petrus and Grosch were effective, and at the back Planéta and Gabriel were outstanding, but the names of the players with excellent performances could still be listed. The two teams went head-to-head, sometimes one led, sometimes the other. Based on the game shown, it was not surprising that at the end of the half, DVSC SCHAEFFLER had the advantage (14-15).

At the beginning of the second half, we led by two for the first time, after Nóra Nagy(!) very calmly scored a penalty. However, Fradi equalized again and in the continuation the teams alternated the lead again. Then we were able to pull away with two goals again with the academician’s seven-pointer, but after that there was a serious short circuit. FTC took the lead again in just over a minute(!), minus two, and even took advantage of Debrecen’s mistakes to pull away with three goals. Zoltán Szilágyi had to ask for his third time-out already in the middle of the half. After that, Loki temporarily recovered, but they were unable to equalize in the continuation. Although the girls fought with honor, they could not get out of the ups and downs until the end of the match. Maybe we were a little tired at the end, so that we had to play two quasi-BL games within three days. FTC ended up winning by four goals. And with the defeat, it was decided that we could not even mathematically win a bronze medal in the championship.

Although the feat was not achieved this time, we managed to play another one-to-one match with the champion and cup winner Ferencváros. This performance must also be appreciated and it will be necessary to build on it for the next season. We congratulate Ferencváros on the championship title and the cup victory, but even more congratulations are due to ours for the fact that the matches against Győr and Fradi were classified as a real rally with their performance this year. Not to mention the unforgettable moments they gave us in the Champions League. He continued. next in September.

COACHES
Allan Heine: I’m glad that even though the league title was decided on Wednesday, we also managed this game well, we played nice handball, in this atmosphere, which was worthy of ending the season.
Zoltán Szilágyi: We were worthy opponents of our champion and cup-winning rival almost throughout, unfortunately we ran out of steam in the last minutes. We made mistakes in attack and in this period our defense was not strong either. I am proud of the team, because we have come a long way, the players have improved a lot, never had a worse year.
