Although we led throughout and could have decided the match several times, in the end we won in a great battle until the last minutes in the home of Vác, who fought brilliantly.
With the goals of Konszuéla Hámori and Vivien Grosch, we started the match better, the home team was scoreless for four and a half minutes. Unfortunately, in the continuation, Vác scored twice in less than thirty seconds. Then we left again with two, but the tenacious hosts did not give their skins cheaply. In the middle of the half, the machine started, in the absence of Liliána Csernyanszki, who was absent due to a minor injury, Petra Vámos had to bear more of the burden than usual, but she was able to handle it, and with her control, we reached the beginning of the first half with a four-goal lead. In the minutes before the break, however, there was another ups and downs, the home team took advantage of this and halved their deficit. In the continuation, we had the advantage throughout, but Vác held on. Then after 17-18 came another Loki attack. The defense was perfect, Catherine Gabriel pulled down the curtain, so we didn’t concede a goal for seven minutes, and in the meantime we scored four (17-22). We had the game in hand, but the hosts caught up once again. Fortunately, there was always an extra solution at key moments. In addition to the goals of Konszüéla Hámori and Petra Vámos, Planéta Simonetta scored at a very important moment. And when the home team had a chance, Petrus Mirtill twice and Tamara Haggerty scored “life-saving” goals, so even if it was difficult, we got the two points that are very important for us in the home of Vác. Herbert Gábor: I congratulate Debrecen for today’s victory and for the BL successes of the past few weeks. It’s good that my colleague called the match a rally, but in order to compete with such a team, we have to produce one hundred percent. We were there willingly, we approached it with discipline, but we still have to wait for the real big feat. I can’t fault my team, they can build on this performance.
Szilágyi Zoltán: It was a typical Vác-Debrecen match, the excellently prepared home team, which made the match close until the last minutes, deserves great praise. We had two chances to close the match, but Vác fought back tenaciously both times. It was important that we were able to make good decisions at crucial moments in such an intense meeting.
