We also squeezed Fradi, but we didn’t manage to win

DVSC SCHAEFFLER also played a close match against the star-studded Ferencváros. This match also brought an even fight, but the opponent was better at the end. Fradi won the bronze medal at the 1st Kermann IT Cup.

To no small surprise, Ferencváros was the opponent of DVSC SCHAEFFLER in the bronze match, after the capital city lost to Buducsnosz Podgorica on Friday night. The people of Debrecen were like that, if it turned out like this, they too will try to catch the champion team, which has been thoroughly strengthened with foreign star players. With Kristin Thorleifsdóttir’s goal, Loki immediately took the lead, and doubled their advantage from the second attack.
Of course, the Fradi quickly recovered, so we could not drive for long. After 10 minutes of play, the match was already 5:5. Similar to Friday’s, this match also brought a balanced fight. The two teams went head to head. Both sides excelled more in defense, so it’s no wonder that after 20 minutes of play, the score was only 9-9. At the end of the half, Fradi did a little better, so the green and whites went into the locker room with a one-goal advantage (13:14). As far as individual performances are concerned, perhaps Niki Tóth’s creative and goal-scoring game should be highlighted in the first half.

The second half started with two quick Fradi hits, so the difference quickly increased to three goals, which FTC kept stable in the continuation. Fradi defended much harder and more disciplined, Loki had to suffer a lot for each goal. But the capital city couldn’t score easy goals either, so the 2-3 goal difference became permanent. Until the 25th minute. At the beginning of the match, Zoltán Szilágyi tried the seven against six game, in which our team made several mistakes, so Ferencváros led by six goals in the beginning. To the credit of the Debrecen girls, they did not give up even then. They fought heroically until the last minute, so they managed to cosmeticize the result a little. Fradié won the bronze, DVSC SCHAEFFLER finished fourth at the 1st Kermann Cup International Handball Tournament.

Coaches speeches:
Zoltán Szilágyi: It is definitely positive that we were also at the party against Fradi, who is standing up to the world box office. We defended brilliantly in the first half, but unfortunately we didn’t succeed in the second half, so we conceded a lot of through shots. Our runs weren’t as good as against the Vipers, so we didn’t have a realistic chance to win. At the same time, I am very happy that we were able to test where we are at such a high-quality tournament against such strong opponents. It was very helpful.
Allan Heine: “It’s difficult to evaluate the team’s performance at this time, at least in terms of the game, since we barely had the opportunity to prepare together. At the same time, I am very happy that I saw the same fighting spirit and fighting spirit on the field, with which we managed to achieve good results last year. We still have work to do, but this tournament was also good because it highlighted a lot of things about our shortcomings.”
