After a bad start, with a constantly improving game, DVSC SCHAEFFLER won confidently in Podgorica. Although it is not yet mathematically certain, DVSC SCHAEFFLR is very close to the next round!
The locals prepared against DVSC SCHAEFFLER. Even on the morning of the match day, Bojana Popovics led her players for one and half hour training session. And the Buducnost handball players went through the training like the devils. Obviously, they knew very well that this was their last chance: if they wanted to keep their chances alive, they had to win against Debrecen.
Loki’s goal was also to win, which, if not mathematically, could practically have secured the next round. The girls from Debrecen did not train on the day of the match, rather they tried to rest after the long journey and refresh themselves until the start of the decisive match.
The 2,500-seat Bemax Arena had about four hundred spectators… The match did not start very well. Hámori was sent off in the first minute, which Buducnost took advantage of and quickly took the lead. The bigger problem was that even with equal numbers, the home team played better and while we made Attingré big in the goal, they scored goals. Loki couldn’t score for ten minutes… It’s no wonder that Zoltán Szilágyi missed his first chance. It was 3-0 on the scoreboard at that time.
The timeout was used, DVSC SCHAEFFLER scored 4 goals in more than two minutes and took the lead. In the continuation of the first half, the two teams went head to head. The score was 11-11 at the break.
The second half started with a goal from Debrecen. Then Loki started getting more and more involved in the game. The defense rallied, it was possible to complete two runs and thus the difference gradually increased. DVSC SCHAEFFLER scored four in the middle of the inning. At that time, the increasingly uncertain home team tried to play seven against six. Six and a half minutes before the end, Loki took a five-point lead for the first time. And it didn’t happen. In the continuation, he already scored seven goals, of which six remained at the end.
It started hard, but it ended very well. Although it is not yet mathematically certain, in faint letters, it can be carefully described: we have PROGRESS!
