A great additional program awaits the fans coming to the match against CSM Bucharest. In the corridor behind the B-sector, the career of Pista Varga, the classic of Debrecen Dózsa, is brought to life in 20 large photographs. The legendary handball player would have turned 80 this year.
The exhibition about István Varga contains 20 large-sized (70x100cm) photos, in which the most memorable moments of the legendary handball player’s career come to life. The exhibition was presented for the first time on September 7, the classic player’s birthday, in his hometown of Abony, where a statue of him was erected on the occasion that he would have turned 80 that day. The fact that hundreds of people took part in the statue unveiling ceremony and that the sports hall of the Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county settlement also bears his name speaks volumes about his popularity. It is interesting that the material for the exhibition was collected and processed by Vanda Járdány, the goddaughter of István Varga, who lives and works in Abony.
The exhibition can be viewed in the corridor behind the B-sector during the match against CSM Bucharest. The opening will take place at 2:30 p.m., to which the club has invited Pista Varga’s widow, daughter and siblings, as well as members of the championship team of Dózsa Debrecen, who will also watch the Champions League match afterwards.
The creator of the exhibition is Tünde Parádiné Kenéz, the president of the Debrecen Honvéd Sport and Student Sports Association, Békessy Békessy, Olympic Friends Circle Section, and Gyula Németi, the club’s former technical manager. The material for the exhibition was offered by István Varga’s hometown, the municipality of Abony.
