The Hungarian U16 national team knocked out the French in the bronze medal match (30-12). In addition to the second coach Blanka Márián, four players of the DVSC Handball Academy were also an active part of the success: Petra Keller, Janka Zákányi, Nikol Litschauer and Sarolta Szinay!
The Hungarian U16 national team played eight matches in five days and finished in third place at the U16 European Open in Gothenburg. The Hungarians started on July 1, under the leadership of Attila Kun, whose assistant is the coach of our academy, Blanka Márián. Four players of the DVSC Handball Academy, Petra Keller, Nikol Litschauer, Sarolta Szinay and Janka Zákányi travelled to Sweden.
The Hungarian team played its first match against the Czech Republic and our team confidently won 24-14, then in the second match of the day against Spain, we had to sweat more, but we got the two points this time as well (22-18). On the second day, the Hungarians also won against Romania (21-17), and then finished the group stage with an easy victory against Cyprus.
In the semi-final, the host Sweden defeated the Hungarians with a goal scored in the last seconds, but the fact that they defeated the French in the evening match proves that we are holding on, and although it was already decided that they would continue in the final four, it also did a lot of good for the souls. In the semi-finals, Switzerland was better with a small, sloppy goal, and thus the bronze medal match followed.
The girls came to this meeting extremely motivated, they seized the initiative at the beginning of the match. Our academics also took an active part in the victory, which was not in danger for a minute, in fact! The Hungarians already led by thirteen goals at halftime, and the end was a real knockout: 30-12!
The well-deserved dance of joy came. The Hungarian youth national team, which deservedly won the bronze medal in its first major international tournament, has had an eventful five days!
In addition to second coach Blanka Márián, four players of the DVSC Handball Academy were also an active part of this success. Petra Keller scored 34, Janka Zákányi 18, Litschauer Nikol 13, and Sarolta Szinay scored 10! But, what is even more important, they presented themselves on the international stage and made their mark at this level as well!
