The junior European champion, who plays in Mosonmagyaróvár, will be a player of DVSC SCHAEFFLER from this summer. Our club signed a two-year contract with her.
Niki Tóth, who is still only 22 years old but already has considerable international experience, started her career at the Óbuda Sports School, then played for Ferencváros, and then on loan for Pénzügyőr, MTK and Mosonmagyaróvár. She made his debut in the senior league at a very young age, at the age of 16, and even scored a goal for Fradi in her first NB 1 match, against Dunaújváros. So far, she has played in a total of 105 NB I matches and scored 167 goals.
Last season, she scored 21 goals in the EHF Europa League as a player for MKC, and she also played four seasons in the Champions League with Ferencváros, scoring 13 goals in her most successful season.
She was also a member of the Hungarian national team that won the Junior European Championship (2019, Győr), took second place at the World Youth Championship (2018, Kielce), and took third place at the European Youth Championship (2017, Mihalovce).
DVSC SCHAEFFLER concluded a two-year contract with Nikolett Tóth. The center back was very pleased with Loki’s interest and is excitedly looking forward to the years in Debrecen.
– What are your feelings about transfering to DVSC SCHAEFFLER?
– I was very happy when I found out that DVSC SCHAEFFLER was interested in me. It’s an honor that a team with such a long history and currently successful has noticed me. I think that in addition to Győr and Fradi, Loki is also a club with a patina where many Hungarian players would like to play. As for me, I have thought several times about what it would be like to play handball in Debrecen, I am glad that it happened. I am extremely excited, I can’t wait to introduce myself in the red and white shirt and I want to achieve many, many successes with DVSC.
– It is interesting that you come from the big rival, Mosonmagyaróvár. How do you feel about this?
– A transfer like this is always spicy, but on the one hand, I will only be joining the team months later, and on the other hand, I would like to point out that I feel very good in Mosonmagyaróvár as well. We can prepare in great conditions, everything is really given so that we only have to deal with handball. I learned a lot and developed at MKC and I like playing here, but the time has come for a change. I am confident that I and the team will fit together. We have already discussed this with Zoltán Szilágyi, who confirmed this. I have absolutely good feelings about my transfer to Debrecen and I trust my instincts.
– Do you know any of your future teammates more closely?
– Several players, of course. I played together with Dodo Hornyák in Fradi, but I also have a very good relationship with Petra Vámos, Míra and Petrus Mici, for example.
– When it comes to Petra Vámos. Everyone in Debrecen is now talking about how it will be difficult to replace her. Does this mean any kind of burden for you, or do you see the task as more of a challenge?
– I don’t see it as a burden, in fact, I’ve always liked being under pressure. Looking back, I was always able to get the most out of myself when there were high expectations of me. I like these kinds of challenges, and I’m actually looking forward to really testing myself. I want to prove that I can stand my ground in Debrecen and I want to help the club achieve its goals.
