Just like several times in the previous season, DVSC SCHAEFFLER was an absolutely equal partner for Győr this time as well. That’s the good news. The very bad thing is that Nina Szabó suffered a seemingly serious injury.
DVSC SCHAEFFLER started the match well. Although the defense didn’t work nearly perfectly, Loki was patient and creative in attack, so he always had an answer to the conceded goal. Petrus Mirtill shot flawlessly, Jovovic’s tricks worked again and Petra Füzi-Tóvizi was often found in the wall by her teammates. There was an absolutely balanced fight on the field. That’s how it went until the 19th minute. Then suddenly the hall fell silent. After a jump, Nina Szabó had a bad grip on the ground and, at first glance, suffered an injury that seemed serious. Although he left the track on his own two feet (accompanied by the occasional whistle…), it didn’t seem like he escaped the incident. The last ten minutes of the half – either because of Nina’s injury or not – were wasted. DVSC SCHAEFFLER played disorganized with many technical errors, which Győr immediately punished and built up a four-goal advantage until the break.
It didn’t seem like the break was enough to sort out the lines. We also started the second half with huge mistakes. During two consecutive attacks, we gave the ball to Győr twice, from which the home team scored easy goals and increased the lead to six in no time. It was annoying because the ETO didn’t really look convincing this evening either. This was confirmed in the following minutes. Zoltán Szilágyi tried a seven-on-six attack and it seemed that the tactical change really confused the home team. Thanks to Ryde’s excellent goalkeeping and some easy goals after careful defending, DVSC SCHAEFFLER went on a 7-0 run to take the lead in the 43rd minute. Although Győr equalized after that, Loki’s minutes followed again. We also scored two empty-net goals from a man advantage defense, so for the first time in the match, we led by two goals in the 49th minute. But there was still a lot left and the minutes ticked by very slowly. Győr regrouped and took the lead again, but at 29:28, 40 seconds before the end, Loki could attack to equalize. Ours played to the limit, Töpfner could shoot cleanly after a run-in from the wing, but Sako made a great save. It’s boring to describe, Győr won by one goal again.
Nina Szabó is going for an MRI tomorrow. Then it may become clear how serious her injury is.

COACHES
Per Johansson: The duel between the two teams in recent matches presented us with a constant challenge. We finished the first half and the second half well. With a six-goal lead, we gave Debrecen the opportunity to take the initiative, and that doesn’t mean anything good. We won and that’s the main thing, but we can’t afford such mistakes against the ever-improving DVSC. Great respect to the opponent, we were lucky today. I wish Nina Szabó all the best!
Zoltán Szilágyi: We didn’t play well in several stages of the match, Győr dominated, but I’m happy that the team showed serious mental strength in a six-goal deficit. Jessica Ryda’s saves played a leading role in this. At that time, we also played tactically and well in attack. The luckier team won, the opportunity was there, but we didn’t take it. However, what hurts the most is probably Nina Szabó
we lost it for a long time.
