The draw was enough to get through in the Cup

We were up and we were down, the end was a draw, which means the visiting team advances, so we are among the top eight teams of the Hungarian Cup.

We started the game well, quickly gained a two-goal advantage, the master of the Vác had to ask for time in the 8th minute. Then came a more serious ups and downs, the hosts turned it around with a four-nil rush, and it seemed as if we were unsettled by that. We had consecutive two-minute exhibitions, which is even more annoying, in the 20th minute we already missed the third seven-meter shot. Even so, Vác was able to catch up, with a goal from Liliána Csernyanszki in the 28th minute, the score was tied (13-13). However, the lead of the first half belonged to the home team again, so they went to rest with a two-goal lead. In the continuation, we converted in four and a half minutes (16-18), then after another time-out in Vác, we made more and more mistakes in the match. The teams came head-to-head in the final of the game, and then – thanks to the feats of Gabrijela Bartulovic – we led with two goals in the last two minutes. However, Vác did not give up, they were able to equalize, but this means we will advance! The point is that we are in the quarter-finals of the Hungarian Cup!

Coaches

Herbert Gábor:
It was a hard-fought match, a real pile-up battle, both the game and the result were fluctuating. I can be proud of my team’s fighting spirit, as we often created opportunities out of nowhere.

Zoltán Szilágyi: The fight was dominated, it was a typical Vác-Debrecen match. The home team stood up for themselves, and we saw great individual performances from them. We started both halves well, but something changed after their opponent’s time-out. Vác made good use of our individual mistakes. We couldn’t hold the opponent’s crossers, and if we stepped on them, Fanni Helembai’s moves came in. We were lucky in the final of the match, mainly because Gabrijela Bartulovic made important saves.
