Our academy’s 16-year-old right winger, Petra Keller, has signed a contract with our club until 2029.
Petra Keller was born in Eger in 2008 and started playing handball in her hometown in 2016. After the Eger Sports School, she became a certified player of Eszterházy SC, from where she moved to the DVSC Handball Academy in 2022. She quickly became a key member of her team, in her first season she was a member of the U15 team, and since then she has been in the youth team, working under Blanka Márián in the first two seasons, and is currently coached by Viktor Győrvári.
“I am very happy about this opportunity, this is another important step in terms of my career,” said Petra after signing the contract. “I would like to reach a high level in handball, my long-term plans include playing in the first division. As a young player, it is natural that I have to improve in all aspects, especially physically, but I can learn a lot from my more experienced teammates in all aspects of the game. I feel very good at the club, all the conditions are there for my development. Moreover, Debrecen also offers me good prospects for further studies.”
This season, Petra has shown her skills in the U18 I. Division and NB II, as well as in the much older U20 I. Division, scoring fifty goals in seven matches in the latter competition. In 2023, she was chosen as the best U15 player of the season at the DVSC Handball Academy. In 2024, she won a bronze medal with four Debrecen teammates as a member of the Hungarian national team at the U16 Open European Championship in Sweden.
