The excellent playing NEKA made it very difficult for us, but in the end we managed to get the two points.
The match had a difficult start, the first ten minutes resembled a Wild West pistol duel, where the parties fire but do not load. Then in the middle of the half, the team calmed down a bit, Petra Vámos took control of things, so Debrecen’s advantage quickly increased to four goals (12-8). It was no surprise that Bakó Botond asked for time, moreover, the events of the next few minutes showed that the one-minute discourse spent with the players was not useless. For us, a nightmare ten minutes followed, this period was won by the guests 8-1 (!), and although they managed to overcome the deficit at the beginning of the half, the teams were able to rest with a one-goal NEKA advantage.
In the hectic second half, the teams alternated in the lead, but it was scary that the visitors were very close even when they were approaching the goal. We had reason to worry when we were down 28-27 in the 54th minute, but luckily the team had some leaders. First, Catherine Gabriel saved a jump shot, then Petra Vámos scored a goal even with a double deficit. Our French goalkeeper saved a penalty at 29-27, and then Petrus Mirtill’s goal made the difference reassuring three minutes before the end. From there, there was no way back for the Boglár academics, who fought and played brilliantly, and despite the more subdued performance, we can definitely be happy that DVSC SCHAEFFLER won its seventh game in a row.

Zoltán Szilágyi: We knew that NEKA had improved a lot since our match against each other in September, I told the girls this in the dressing room. When we led by four goals in the first half, we relaxed too much, and the visitors sensed the opportunity and turned it around by producing a great period. I’m glad that there were some good performances in the end of the game and thanks to that we got the two points.
Bakó Botond: The girls put their hearts and souls on the pitch, and thanks to this, we did well in the home of the CL-participant Debrecen. Loki’s excellent goalkeeping performance came in the first half, and in the end the more routine home team won. Even so, we can be satisfied, as the team is developing and there are still many tasks ahead of us.
