At the season opening press conference of DVSC SCHAEFFLER, the club management and the coaching staff talked about the goals and the opportunities provided by the CL participation.
“It’s going to be a challenging season. Taking part in the Champions League is a big task in itself, but at the same time it is a big opportunity for the team and also a marketing opportunity for the club – said Zsolt Ábrók, managing director of DVSC Kézilabda Kft. – We would like to reach the sixth place in the group, which means progress, this is our goal, but not an expectation. The increased number of matches and the Wednesday-Saturday rhythm will be a big task, but this opportunity can help us reach our longer-term goal, winning the final four of the European League. Third place in the championship is our goal and we are aware that this could be in jeopardy because of the CL. If it turns out that we have to step back temporarily, we will still try to learn from it. In CL, even more conditions must be met, for example, the design of standing areas is strictly regulated. The goal was for 2,000 people to be able to support in the most cultured way possible, which is why we wanted to increase the number of seats available. The Főnix Arena is only open during one of our home games, so we couldn’t even think about this solution. In the stands, the VIP sector has been halved, most of the VIPs will return under the stands, so there will be even more space in the sectors. Pass sales have started, season tickets are selling well. We will reserve the agreed discounted ticket quota for the ultras until the last moment, we hope that the situation will be resolved, as we need each other.”
Head coach Zoltán Szilágyi spoke about the team’s goals. “We hope this season we will have more variation options, we will need a deeper rotation – said the head coach. – For us, playing in the CL means a serious rank, and of course it is also a big challenge. We want to play freely and without pressure in the elite league, and our goal is to win the bronze medal again in the championship.”
Kitti Kudor spoke about the new certifications. “The first impression of the new players is very positive, they gave themselves a lot during the first training sessions,” said our second coach. “They will get all the help they need to fit in from the others, so there won’t be any problems.” We are looking forward to the start of this challenging season for us as well, which holds great opportunities for everyone.”
