Quickly decided

The great start was the key to MTK’s confident victory against Budapest, the fate of the two points was decided in the middle of the first half.

DVSC-MTK

We had some missing players, as Mariana Costa is with the Brazilian national team at the Pan-American Games, while Míra Vámos and Tamara Haggerty were unable to play in the championship against MTK due to minor injuries.

We started the match at a great pace, our defense was good, we stoled a lot of balls and scored easy goals. Barely more than five minutes had passed when, with a 5-1 lead in Debrecen, the guests’ coach, Attila Vágó, called for a time-out. We led 8-4 with the fourth goal of the irresistible Petra Vámos, and 10-4 with the second goal of Gréta Kácsor.

In the meantime, we could see a scene that even the most routine match-goers would never see. In the 11th minute, when Debrecen was leading 7-3, the ball slipped out of the hands of Luca Poczetnyik, who was breaking through the middle of the goal. Gabrijela Bartulovic tried to prevent it from rolling outside the six, threw himself after it and pulled it back. The ball started towards the goal in Debrecen and crossed the goal line… Since there is no own goal in handball, the goal was officially added to the name of the MTK player Luca Poczetnyik who had the last possession of the ball. In the rest of the half, Gréta Kácsor also thoroughly sprinkled herself, and in the process, although the concentration decreased a little, DVSC SCHAEFFLER still increased its advantage. All of our outfield players scored a goal, and our academy player Kelemen Dorina also scored three times. In the end, we won by ten goals, and the match was a good preparation for Saturday’s Champions League match against Brest.

Coaches
Szilágyi Zoltán: We started the game well, we were tight at the back, we scored quick goals. With our advantage, our offensive game and our defense became slower, and MTK took advantage of this. I wasn’t satisfied with our defense in the second half, but I’m happy that we won confidently despite our shortcomings.

Vágó AttilaIn the first ten to fifteen minutes, we did not have the tempo of our offensive game, because of this there were many technical errors, and DVSC took advantage of this to gain a serious advantage. At the beginning of the half, we managed to pick up the pace, and I’m glad that we had some good periods, and the players who had less opportunities so far were able to prove themselves.
