Press coverage after the CL-feat

The domestic and international sports press focused on DVSC SCHAEFFLER’s success against Brest at the weekend. The journalists were not stingy with the praise adjectives. According to the European association, DVSC SCHAEFFLER is the surprise team of the season!

“With their third win in six games (31-24 against Brest), DVSC SCHAEFFLER can be considered the surprise team of the season.” The official website of the EHF (ehfcl.eurohandball.com) begins its report with this sentence, and then continues: “Debrecen won the elite series by the biggest margin in its history. With the two points gained, the way to progress was opened, which would be a huge result for the team playing against much more experienced opponents.”

“Brest bowed head in Debrecen.” The leading French sports newspaper, L’Equipe, served its report on the match with this title. In the article it was written: “The Breton players collapsed when, at 18-18, Debrecen unleashed a terrible 5-0 run on them.”

“Brest ran out of gas…” This is the title of the Breton Le Télégramme regarding the match. “Everything was missing a little bit. A little calmness in important moments, a little belligerence and a little freshness.” Head coach Pablo Morel was quoted by the newspaper, which highlighted that the French star team had lost four of its six games so far.

“Without a solution.” According to the French team’s own website (brest-bretagnehandball.fr), Brest did not find a solution to DVSC SCHAEFFLER’s game. “They beat us in all areas: defense, attack, combativeness,” said Pablo Morel, Brest’s head coach. They also pointed out that the French were playing away for the third time in a week, so perhaps the players lacked freshness. The website quotes Jenny Carlson as saying: “I feel that they are better prepared than us in both defense and attack. Our strengths were not allowed to prevail. It was also up to us to be able to play a better game.”

The domestic sports press also heaped praise on the DVSC SCHAEFFLER team.

“AMAZING BRAVO VICTORY IN DEBRECEN IN THE LEAGUE OF WOMEN’S HANDBALL CHAMPIONS” – the origo.hu sports website reported about the match. According to the news portal’s writing, Loki “performed brilliantly in terms of goalkeeping, defense and attack, and took up the fight against its rival, who was considered to have a better chance in advance.”

“A huge feat! DVSC beat Brest at home with 7 (!) goals” – thus the banner of nso.hu. “Loki, who still needs to advance to the sixth place, without Míra Vámos and Planéta Szimonetta, has already defeated the direct rivals Sävehof from Sweden and Podgorica from Montenegro, and in the sixth round he was able to prove that he can hold his own against a top European team – he did,”

“Fantastic CL feat: Loki defeated Brest with a great performance” – rejoiced dehir.hu, the local internet portal. “The dance of joy came, DVSC SCHAEFFLER won a fantastic victory. The extra feat further increased the chances of progressing,” assessed the paper’s columnist, György Gurbán.

“A huge step towards promotion: DVSC played dynamically and beat Brest in the Champions League” M4 Sport’s title presentation in connection with the victory. The public media news portal quoted head coach Zoltán Szilágyi: “Even if it wasn’t a miracle, it was an excellent performance not only in fighting skills, but also in smart, calm handball.”

“Instead of a minuet, a tavern” The news portal of the University of Debrecen, Demedia.hu, gave it a witty title. “Vámos Petra’s forays were different from Arsene Lupin’s”, compared our controller to the popular French serial hero, author György Weisz, who experienced many great battles.
