In the contract of DVSC SCHAEFFLER’s national team player, it is stated that for a given amount, a Champions League participant team can buy her out before the contract expires in 2025. The French champion took advantage of this opportunity, so Petra Vámos will be a Metz player from July.
Petra Vámos really burst into Hungarian adult handball in 2019. The talent from NEKA played her first NB I match in September in the DVSC SCHAEFFLER team, and in December she was already at the World Championship held in Japan as a member of the Hungarian national team. Today, she is clearly the number one playmaker of the national team, whom Europe’s leading clubs would also like to see in their ranks. A clause was included in Petra Vámos’s latest contract, according to which a team in the CL can buy the player out of her contract for a certain amount, and this has now taken place. Metz signs a 3-year contract with the Hungarian national team player.
“Negotiations regarding my transfer have been going on for months, and we have finally reached this point,” said Petra Vámos on the Sunday evening broadcast of the Piros-Fehér Podcast (the broadcast can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qbW0ajRXR8). – I was attracted to the legionary life, I like the French style, which prefers fast play, and Metz is one of the most sympathetic teams for me in the Champions League, that’s why I decided to accept their offer. The goals are given, I am sure that I will learn a lot from my regular teammates. And of course, getting to know a new culture is a big challenge. I thank the Debrecen management for allowing me to continue my career at Metz.”
On the broadcast, Petra talked about the development of her career so far and about her second home, Debrecen.
“I got the basics in Balatonboglár, at NEKA, and after five years I decided to change,” the player recalled. – I was approached by several teams, it was an internal intuition that I accepted DVSC’s offer. I trusted myself that the work would pay off, and I knew that it didn’t matter who I trained with, who I could learn from? I am grateful to Loki, as this is where I became a complex player. There was already talk of switching last year, but I wasn’t ready for it then. This season I made a lot of progress both physically and mentally, and it is a special pleasure that I was able to play for the first time in the CL for DVSC SCHAEFFLER. Life seems to be characterized by five-year periods: five years in Boglár, five years here in Debrecen, it’s all like fate. I have a lot of emotions now, it’s good that there is still half a year until the change, they will settle down by then. I would like to leave Debrecen, which has become my second home, with good results. We haven’t given up on my championship bronze medal yet, we want to be there in the final game of the Hungarian Cup as well, and the goal is to advance to the Champions League!”
The buyout of Vámos Petra is of sporting historical importance, as they had never paid for a DVSC player before. He is the first Hungarian handball player who, as a student of the academy system, signs a contract with a foreign star team, one of the strongest teams in the Champions League. The club is proud that the years spent in Debrecen influenced the development and success of the national handball player’s career.
