Mariana Costa: together, we can do it!

On Saturday, at 4 p.m., DVSC SCHAEFFLER will host WHC Buducnost BEMAX from Montenegro in the Champions League. This will probably be one of the most important matches from the point of view of advancement, so the support of the audience will be very necessary.

For decades, Buducsnoszt was an unavoidable factor in European women’s club handball, winning the Champions League twice (2012, 2015), the now-defunct European Cup Winners’ Cup three times, while the IHF Cup won gold once. Since then, the budget of the perennial Montenegrin champions is a bit more modest, but the club from Podgorica is still a sure member of the BL field. In this year’s series of the elite league, Buducsnosz has met the same teams as DVSC SCHAEFFLER, and they have scored two points in the same way as the girls from Debrecen. That is why we can announce that sixty minutes are crucial for our team on Saturday. Our opponent arrived in Cívisváros on Friday afternoon and trained in Hódos. Among the players from Podgorica, we were able to welcome a dear friend, because Ann-Cathrin Giegerich signed a contract with Buducsnoszt in the summer after three seasons. Háfra Noémi of the Hungarian national team is also a player of the team from Podgorica, but the team also has Turkish, Brazilian, French and Bulgarian legionnaires.

“The BL means extra motivation – said Mariana Costa, who is looking forward to Saturday’s rally. – The match against Mosonmagyaróvár was very difficult, but we didn’t have much time to think about what happened, because another very, very important match awaits us. The Champions League is a completely different story with a different opponent. We know that Buducsnost is a very strong and united team, they fight very hard on the field, but we are expecting a very good match at home. After the defeat against Mosonmagyaróvár, the home crowd can be of great help to us to find ourselves again, to be able to fight together for victory and points. I can’t imagine a better scenario for the repair. In today’s handball, as has been proven several times, anything can happen. Although there are better teams, it often does not matter. We have sixty minutes to play well. Of course it will be difficult, very difficult, but we have proven many times that ours is a very strong team and our greatest strength is that we stick together even in the most difficult moments. I am very proud of this community. It has happened several times that after a poorly managed game or a weak week, we returned to the field even stronger. Our team is much stronger than to be dismayed by such a thing. We play at home, we have our fans here, we didn’t fall apart, we are still a team, we are united, so yes, we can do it!
