DVSC SCHAEFFLER outplayed Mosonmagyaróvár in every aspect of the game, ending in a 17-goal victory.
The two teams have fought countless big battles against each other in recent years, and this season we even received a very unpleasant slap from the Transdanubian team. Who wouldn’t remember the Hungarian Cup match…
There was no shortage of motivation and this was evident in the Debrecen girls. DVSC SCHAEFFLER played handball with great concentration and motivation from the first moment of the match. The defense was rock-solid, and the home team played fast and creatively in attack, so it’s no wonder that they led the entire first half, building a seven-goal lead. Konszuéla Hámori was especially in her element, scoring goals (she was 5/4 at the break), distributing assists, or “in the worst case scenario” making seven. But Catherine Gabriel also excelled in goal, with a 44 percent percentage after 30 minutes of play. Interestingly, Jovovics started as a forward, while on the left wing, in the absence of Míra Vámos, Nikolett Tóth was Petrus Mici’s substitute partner.
In the first five minutes of the second half, it was decided that today’s match would not be an extremely intense match between the two great rivals. DVSC SCHAEFFLER continued where it left off in the first half, the gap grew, and in the 36th minute there were already ten between them. Mosonmagyaróvár played handball disintegrating, and ours was in ecstasy. The defense was very solid for this day, Móvár still had only 12 goals after 44 minutes of play. Zoltán Szilágyi: I was very happy with this production, we performed great in every element of the game. Defense was the key, but there was also a great goalkeeping performance from Catherine Gabriel and we managed to neutralize Mosonmagyaróvár’s strengths. We also performed well in attack today, we were very concentrated, we played with good use of the situation and were patient. We won a rally, we are happy about that, but we know that we still have tasks ahead of us in the sequel.
Ferenc Stranigg: Unfortunately, we were not able to perform the way we are otherwise capable of. We played very stressed, we were slow in defense, and we forced what we really do not know. We had 19 technical fouls, which is a lot in a tournament like this, and you can’t achieve a good result with that. We were only able to calm down towards the end of the match and play the way we know how, if we had managed to do that at the beginning of the match, maybe the end would have been different.
