Junior WCh: Silver medal at the end!

The Hungarian national team did not play well in the final of the World Championship, so France deservedly won 29-26.

The two matches against the French framed the actions of the coaching duo of Zoltán Szilágyi and Kitti Kudor at the head of the national team of girls born in 2004-2005. 360 days earlier, on July 6 of last year, the Euro group match against France was the first meeting in which the coaching duo from Debrecen managed the Hungarian age-group team, then ours won 30-29 and did not stop until the continental championship gold medal. Now in the North Macedonian capital, the French played better handball (or rather with fewer mistakes), and that was enough to win the final.

However, at the beginning of the match, our defense was very good, we scored the first goal in the 8th minute. After that, the French proved to be stronger in scoring, and they were effective mainly from the opening goals scored from the balls we sold. Because there were many errors in attack, it was felt that the girls, who were playing their eighth game in 12 days, were very tired on both sides.

France led 14-13 at halftime, but in the next three minutes our deficit swelled to four goals. We chased the French and tried everything, including the seven-on-six offensive game. We took the lead in the 47th minute (22-21), but the Gauls, who again made fewer mistakes, took the lead. Although Klára Zaj defended in a form inspired by it, the French went to the World Cup gold.

But the silver also shines very nicely!
