The group match against Mexico did not bring a real challange, our team beat the Central American national team with a difference of 44 goals.
This also had to be played because it is part of the World Cup, but let’s face it, the Hungary-Mexico match did not have too much sporting value. Accordingly, the Hungarian team won the two points without much effort.
Let’s look at the positives! This time, the Hungarian national team played in the larger hall in Skopje, the Boris Trajkovskij Sports Center, and since the final game of the World Cup will be held here, the team at least got to know this arena as well. Despite the vast difference in knowledge, our team honored the opponent by taking the sixty minutes seriously and doing it all without showing off, behaving like real sportsmen. It was important that the two Iranian referees acted in accordance with the rules of handball throughout, they did not unprincipledly try to help the weaker player. And it is also gratifying that every Hungarian outfield player who entered the field scored a goal. It is also positive for us that our academy’s goalkeeper, Réka Lakatos, made his debut at the world competition!
On Saturday at 1:30 p.m., the real world championship will start for us, as the opponent will be South Korea. The “group final” goes beyond which national team finishes at the top of the C four, as the teams take this result with them to the semi-finals, so the winner can take a big step towards reaching the eight.
