Junior WCh: start with an ease victory

The Hungarian junior women’s national team began its performance at the U20 World Championship in Skopje at nine o’clock on Wednesday morning. Due to chances our team won easily, 39-21, against Argentina.

The Hungarian national team started the match against Argentina with many mistakes, which can be attributed to the excitement factor typical of the start of the world tournament. The team that won last year’s European Championship gold medal in the age group then caught the thread and led by two goals for the first time with Liliána Csernyanszki’s goal in the eighth minute (5-3). As the defense improved, more and more easy goals were scored. Our wingers were on fire, Léna Gém and Anna Szabó were also effective many times after counter-attacks. Sofia Gull, who is playing in Spain, stood out from the South American national team, the 187-centimeter back player was effective from the far zones. Nevertheless, by the end of the first half, the difference was reassuring, Hungary led 19-12.

The minutes after the break reminded us of the beginning of the match, i.e. we were in a hurry, again there were a lot of technical errors and hasty, botched shots. This is why the Argentinians took advantage of their disadvantage (21-16). However, our opponent did not get any closer than that, in fact, as our game became a little more accurate, the difference increased again, so in the 47th minute, after Luca Csíkos’ bomb, the difference was already ten (28-18). In the continuation, the coaching duo Zoltán Szilágyi and Kitti Kudor could experiment, and the Hungarian advantage continued to swell.

Ours are beyond the World Cup debut, with confident success. Continues on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. against Mexico.
