Hungary-Norway: fair defeat

After a great first half, a wavering second half followed, so Norway won with seven goals in the Phoenix Hall. Petra Vámos missed the match due to illness, Petra Tóvizi scored two goals.

The EHF European Cup includes four national teams, the co-hosts of next year’s European Championship, Hungary, Austria and Switzerland, as well as the European champion Norway, these teams do not need to play qualification matches to participate in the continental tournament. In the first round of the series, the Hungarian national team welcomed Norway to the Phoenix Arena in Debrecen. Two DVSC SCHAEFFLER players were originally in the Hungarian squad, but Petra Vámos missed the match against the Nordics due to illness, so Petra Füzi-Tóvizi represented our team. Blanka Böde-Bíró, the goalkeeper of Fradi, was also absent, due to a minor knee injury he could not be at the disposal of national team captain Vladimir Golovin.

After a sold ball, the northerners took the lead, then Petra Füzi-Tóvizi greeted the Norwegians like a good host. The goals were pouring in, and the Hungarian team kept pace with the best team in the world. Kinga Debreczeni-Klivinyi found the gaps in the Norwegian wall well, Anna Albek got into the game well, and Petra Füzi-Tóvizi also scored another goal before the break, so after thirty minutes of play, the Norwegians were ahead by only two.

In the continuation, the difference increased to four goals in no time, only Csenge Kuczora was able to score in minutes that were not very successful from the Hungarian point of view, mostly from ad hoc situations. This can be attributed to the fact that the difference continued to grow, the guests led by eight, when the girls came back in the 55th minute with a full-on Hungarian attack (29-33). Norway changed gears, and we made mistakes, so the scissors opened again, in the end Norway won by seven, which absolutely matches the paper form. The reserve Hungarian national team has no reason to be ashamed, especially the first half of the game was encouraging.
