On Wednesday starts 2024 for DVSC SCHAEFFLER. The girls have seven matches in January, or eight matches depending on Hungarian Cup. For now, the focus is on the first domestic championship: January 3 from 6 p.m. DVSC SCHAEFFLER–Kozármisleny KA.
After the away success against Kisvárda, DVSC SCHAEFFLER players got a rest for New Year’s Day, but on the first day of the new year, the team already had training. And on Wednesday, January 3, match dumping will begin. In the first week, one domestic league match and one away CL match are on the menu. As an opening act, the absolute newcomer of the first division, Kozármisleny, visits Hódos. The team in which not many believed in the promotion outside the small town of Baranya. However, Kozármisleny won a silver medal in the 2022/23 Second Divison, and without any special reinforcements, it also made it to the highest division. Although many assumed that they would not have a chance to score points, the small team defeated the Budaörs team on 23rd September and then also scored a point against Vasas. It is no exaggeration to say that the small town near Pécs is burning with handball fever, every match is a holiday for the fans. Zsanett Scheffer (41 goals), Virág Bánfai (36 goals) and Zsófia Brettner (32 goals) are the determinants of the rookie’s game.
The blacksmith of the handball of Kozármisleny, László Gyulay’s met the DVSC SCHAEFFLER U19 team in the second division last year. The team from Baranya won 26-23 in Debrecen and 28-24 at home against our academy team trained by Kitti Kudor.
“To some extent, I have memories of these players from the previous matches in th Second division, so it was easier for me during the video analysis, for example, that I had to watch players I had already met in person,” Kitti Kudor said in the interview before the match. “I think that Kozármisleny can be a dangerous opponent, since they are fighting for their lives, but at the same time it is also true that we cannot make any more mistakes in the league if we want to achieve our goals. For us, victory is mandatory and we want to achieve this with a game from which we can continue to build for the match against Brest at the weekend.”
Kristóf Altmár and Márton Horváth will be the referess of the DVSC SCHAEFFLER-Kozármisleny KA match starting at 6 p.m. on January 3.
