We expected a difficult sixty minutes in Kisvárda, and the team tackled the sixty minutes with corresponding concentration. The defense was perfect. At 1-12, you could guess that the game was over, but the girls from Debrecen didn’t feel like it was over yet. We led 20-6 at halftime and probably broke a world record in the second half…

The concentration did not decrease, and Catherine Gabriel defended it, which went over the wall, so in the second half we scored only three (!) goals in thirty minutes. There was no cause for excitement, we won with 26 goals in Kisvárda, so we took another step towards the bronze medal!

Bányász-Szabó Valéria: I was confident that we could play a good match with Debrecen, but instead I can be ashamed on behalf of the team. We’re sorry our audience had to see this. It’s incomprehensible what happened, because we were in a good series, and there was no indication in training that this could happen. We underperformed in everything, and the number of goals we scored is below criticism.
Szilágyi Zoltán: There are such matches when one team does everything and the other does nothing. I am very happy that we produced such a game, I have never seen my team play so well. We excelled in all aspects of the game and provided a real joy of handball. And it is especially great that all this happened to us in the most important week of the championship for us.
