On Friday at 6 p.m., two teams from traditional handball strongholds will meet in Hódos: DVSC SCHAEFFLER–Békéscsaba!
It’s a trite cliché, but it’s perfectly true in our case, this pairing always has huge prestige. Two neighboring county seats, two associations that both place a strong emphasis on the education of youth and the participation of home-grown players. The parties had previously fought for the podium places and to avoid relegation, the duel was usually even. In the past period, the balance has mostly tilted in our favor, Békéscsaba won only one of the last ten matches.
The purple and whites started the season with defeats against Győr and Fradi, and then scored two points at the home of Alba-Fehérvár. After that, their home defeat against Vasas was a surprise, so they are currently on the table with two points.
After the forced march in September, DVSC SCHAEFFLER now had four days to prepare for Friday’s championship.
“September was tiring, but we gained a lot of positive energy from these matches,” said our Dutch national team defender, Tamara Haggerty. – We can especially build on our last match against Odense. It is true that we were a little disappointed because we were very close to a great success, but the game was definitely encouraging. We got home from Denmark on Sunday, so now we had a little more time to prepare.
