Close win – it’ll get better

In a hectic match, the Hungarian national team won 34-32 against Austria in Schwechat. Petra Vámos was absent this time due to illness, so our team was represented by Petra Füzi-Tóvizi.

After the defeat against the Norwegians in Debrecen, the Hungarian women’s national team continued its participation in the EHF European Cup in Schwechat, Austria, close to the Hungarian border. Petra Vámos, who was absent on Wednesday due to illness, was not with the squad, so Petra Füzi-Tóvizi represented the DVSC SCHAEFFLER team in this match.

The match started in front of many Hungarian fans with a goal by Petra Füzi-Tóvizi, but Austria soon took a 4-2 lead. In the fast-paced, error-filled first half, the sides took turns for a long time, then after a 10-9 home lead, we gained a serious advantage (13-19) with a 10-3 run. Simon Petra, who made his debut in the national team, played a major role in this excellent series.

By halftime, two goals disappeared from the advantage, and thanks to a disastrous start to the second half, Austria came back into the game. When there would have been a more serious problem, there was one person who pulled the team out of the mess, thus the victory was achieved, but this time too it seemed that the Hungarian national team still had a lot of work to do before the World Cup.
