In just a few years, Vipers Kristiansand became the sole ruler of Europe from a medium-sized Norwegian team. Our opponent on Sunday won the championship of his country five times in a row, and the CL three times!

The club, known as Våg Vipers until 2009, first tried to make a big splash at the beginning of the new millennium. A bronze medal in the Norwegian championship and an EHF Cup semi-final were the results of his hard work, followed by more seasons in the midfield.
The club, now known as Vipers Kristiansand, showed that it has serious goals by winning the Norwegian Cup in 2017. That’s when Katrine Lunde arrived. Many people thought that the 37-year-old goalkeeper would only come to the team of the coastal city at the southern tip of Norway to lead the team. However, the then two-time Olympic champion, world champion, four-time European gold medalist and four-time European Championship winner yearned for more success. And the machine started. Since the 2017/18 season, the Vipers have won every championship, and of course the Norwegian Cup went to the Kristansand club every time. They opened the door on the European stage in 2018 with a silver medal in the EHF Cup, and a year later they excelled in the European Championship and won a bronze medal. Since then, Vipers have been able to lift the trophy in every BL series that has been completed. Of course, in addition to Katrine Lunde, many classics played/play in the pink jersey of Kristiansand, it is enough to mention Hedi Löke, Linn Jørum Sulland, Nora Mörk, Henny Reistad, Markéta Jerabková, Jana Knedliková, or Anna Vjahirjeva. But the spark was the eternally young Katrine Lunde. The Vipers defeated Brest in 2021, Győr in 2022, and Fradi last year in the Budapest final.
In the ongoing season, the Norwegian star team did have problems, as they suffered unexpected defeats in the BL group stage, but everything straightened out at the end of the group stage. In their last two away games, they beat Ikast 37-32 and Ferencváros 35-27…
There were problems off the pitch as well, as the club was close to bankruptcy in January this year, needing NOK 6 million (HUF 200 million) to survive. As a result of a wonderful collaboration, a solution came very quickly. One of Norway’s oldest ice cream manufacturers, Hennig-Olsen, which previously supported Vipers, and a dozen other companies added up the necessary amount in a matter of days, while the city government also helped by reducing the rent of the hall. Russian right-winger Anna Vyahirjeva (86) leads the Vipers’ BL goalscoring list, ahead of Czech right-winger Jana Knedliková (80) and Dutch shot-stopper Lois Abbingh (58). Tamás Hlavaty, a Hungarian from Slovakia, who previously worked in Győr and Mosonmagyaróvár, has been sitting on the bench of the three-time BL winner since last summer.
Most of the tickets for the DVSC SCHAEFFLER-Vipers Kristiansand Champions League round of 16, starting at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, have already been sold, only 100 tickets remain. A seat ticket can be purchased behind the gate, in the L-sector, for HUF 5,000, and non-seat tickets are available for HUF 3,500. You can still buy tickets online on our website under the TICKET/TICKET menu item: https://dvsckezilabda.hu/jegy-es-berlet/
This time, we have also prepared a thematic T-shirt, which can be purchased at an extremely discounted price 1,000 HUF in the shop at the venue of the match or at the stands at the entrance.
