Kristina Dramac will be a player for DVSC SCHAEFFLER starting this summer. The left-handed back comes from Lokomotiva Zagreb, signed a contract for 1+2 years.
Due to the serious injury of Konszuéla Hámori, the club had to look for a new player, since there is only one right-handed player in next year’s squad, in the person of the French Sercien-Ugolin. The choice finally fell on the Lokomotiva Zagreb handball player. Kristina Dramac is a left-handed right-handed shooter of the Austrian national team. 22 years old, 180 cm tall. He scored 33 goals in eight games in this season’s Europa League. In the qualifier against Brühl, he scored 9 times in two matches. He scored 24 goals in 6 games in the group stage. In the away match against Dunarea Braila, who ended up in first place, he scored 8 action goals from 12 attempts.
Last season, he played in the Champions League with Lokomotiva Zagreb, scoring 16 goals. The last time he scored five times in the Austrian national team was in the EHF Euro Cup match against Norway. At the age of 19, he was already a member of the squad for the 2021 World Cup in Spain. A year later, he participated in the U20 World Championship with the Austrian junior national team and finished fifth on the scoring list with 49 goals. He was also there at last year’s senior world championship, scoring a total of 10 goals. The club concluded a contract with him for 1+2 years.
According to head coach Zoltán Szilágyi, Dramac can be an ideal solution to replace Konszuéla Hámori. “Kristina is a young, talented, up-and-coming player who has already shown herself at the international level. He has survived serious matches and serious battles. He performed well in the Europa League as a player for Zagreb and also played in the World Cup with the Austrian national team. I think he has great potential and they will be able to complement each other well with Ugolin.”
We asked Kristina Dramac over the phone about the transfer.
– What do you think about the opportunity in Debrecen?
– I am very happy to be a player for DVSC SCHAEFFLER. This is a huge opportunity for me and also an honor. I know everything about the team. I know that he performs excellently in the Champions League, I know that he was a bronze medalist in the Hungarian championship and that he has serious goals for the future. I can’t wait to play in Debrecen.
– How has your career been so far?
– I started playing handball in Austria, a small team called WAT Atzgersdorf was the first club where I played. At the age of 19, I joined Lokomotiva Zagreb, where they immediately threw me into the deep end, as in the first year we played in the Champions League, and this year in the Europa League. I think my career is going optimally so far, as Lokomotiva was a big step forward compared to the Austrian league and now I feel the same about the contract in Debrecen. In addition, I was able to get into the national team at a fairly young age, so everything has gone well so far, but I’m not satisfied with that. I would like to continue to develop in order to be even more successful in the future. For example, I loved playing in the Champions League, it would be nice to be there continuously.
– What do you think, are you ready to level up again? This year, DVSC SCHAEFFLER is doing great in the Champions League and has a chance to make the podium in the Hungarian championship as well. Do you feel you will be able to consistently perform well at this level?
– Yes, definitely. I have always liked competitive situations, I know that I can learn a lot in Debrecen to become a better player because I will be able to play in a better team. I think this opportunity came at just the right time and is absolutely ideal from my point of view.
– What type of player do you consider yourself to be? Do you prefer to try one-on-one, or do you shoot from the nine? What are your strengths and what do you still need to improve on, how do you feel?
– It depends on the situation. If there is an opportunity, I will shoot from a distance, but if necessary I will also play one-on-one. I consider myself a pretty fast player, so I can handle it. According to my coaches, this is precisely my strength, that I am versatile in attack.
– And the shortcomings?
– The defense, clearly. I am aware that I still have a lot to improve in this area, but I would really like to get started as soon as possible. I trust that DVSC SCHAEFFLER is also an ideal choice in this respect, because I will be able to learn a lot about defense.
– Do you know someone from the team?
– Not really. I know Gabrijela Bartulovic’s brother because we play in the same league, but I don’t know him. Of course, I know what kind of players play in my future team, as I have seen several of their matches. I’m really looking forward to getting to know them.
– And what do you know about your future teammates?
– For example, the French international Oceane Sercien-Ugolin will come to your position, and the Swedish national team Kristin Thorleifsdottir will take the left shooting position. I know who they are, of course. I am very happy that such excellent players are coming, but the others are also very good. I think there will be an excellent team in Debrecen next year. Of course, we have to get used to each other first and we have to practice a lot together in order to be as efficient as possible, but I’m already looking forward to this period. I can only repeat myself, I’m really looking forward to it.
– What are your personal goals in Debrecen?
– The most important thing is that I improve a lot in defense, I want to integrate into the team as soon as possible so that I can help achieve the goals.
– One last question that may seem strange. You are half Croatian, half Austrian. How about your mentalist? Are you more Croatian or more Austrian in that regard?
– Difficult question. I think both, it depends on what is needed. If so, I can play in the Croatian style, with dirtier methods, but I’m also Austrian, which also has its advantages, such as organization or accuracy. I think it’s a good mix.
