In the first half, there were only signs of a possible feat, but in the second half we played irresistibly. DVSC SCHAEFFLER has once again proven its place among the best.
The team left for Germany at 10 a.m. on Saturday and arrived at their accommodation in Ludwigsburg, the Nestor Hotel, around 7 p.m. after the whole day’s journey. After dinner, the girls didn’t have to be pushed too much, everyone quickly relaxed. On the day of the match, after breakfast, a short walk, a video and a light lunch, the team left for the MHP Arena at noon. The match against Bietigheim started at an unusual time, at two o’clock in the afternoon, so it was also a question of which team would be better suited to the early start.
We started the match, but Bietigheim took the lead after a lost ball. At first, ours didn’t like the hard defense of the Germans and we couldn’t do anything with the quick starts, so the home team kept leading with one or two goals in the first minutes. Our players needed ten minutes to pick up the rhythm, and then they managed to equalize for the first time (5:5). Then the Germans switched on again, at the beginning of the 16th minute there were three between them for the first time (8:5). After that, Loki took hold again. We saw one or two really creative figures in attack and managed to put together the defense as well. In the 20th minute, the score was equal again (9:9). Then again, Bietigheim pulled ahead by two, which it held until the break.
The second half started with an incredible scene. The home team attacked for more than 2 minutes, until they finally got a penalty which they scored. Few of us would have thought, but during the next attack, Bietigheim could do the same thing again, with the difference that it did not result in a goal. Luckily, the girls from Debrecen weren’t too bothered by this. They equalized in eight minutes (16:16) and in fact, our team got into it so much that they took the lead a few minutes later! But it is possible to increase it: a minute and a half later we were already three goals ahead. The defense was very organized and it was possible to score quick goals, or if not, then Hámori or Vámos solved it one on one, or Kácsor from a distance. In the 19th minute we were leading by four! But there was still a long way to go. We went into the last 10 minutes with a two-goal advantage. Which was not just any last 10 minutes. Loki’s defense proved to be simply impenetrable, and in attack there was always someone who pulled the unexpected. Bietigheim’s players showed more and more bewilderment on their faces, while ours were confident throughout. It is enough to think only of Hámori’s raids or Gabriel’s defense in the end. The German champion proved powerless in the early stages of the match. DVSC SCHAEFFLER won with four goals! It was a magical afternoon!

Zoltán Szilágyi: I am very satisfied with our performance and, of course, with the result. I told the girls before the game that we had already achieved our goal by going through, which is a huge thing in the history of the club, so they should try to enjoy the game in the remaining three rounds and that we are here in the Champions League. There were quite a few excellent performances today, but we also provided extras at the team level. I am very proud of the girls.
Jakob Vestergaard: I am neither proud nor happy. We executed ourselves in the second half. We didn’t find our own game, maybe we lacked the fighting spirit. They simply beat us one on one. Vámos and Kácsor presented our defense with a particularly difficult task. We conceded 18 goals in the second half, that is too much. In addition, we were not able to perform what we are capable of in attack and in defense. Congratulation to Debrecen!
