DVSC SCHAEFFLER again played a huge match against Győr. Until the last minute, it was questionable which team would win, but again ETO was lucky.
Even before the match, a festive atmosphere prevailed in and around the Imre Hódos Event Hall. In the afternoon, there was a children’s day in the area in front of the hall, and right before the match, the awards for the best players of the season were presented in a ceremonial setting on the arena. The Jeddi Mária award for the best adult player went to Petra Füzi-Tóvizi, the work of Erika Kalocsai was recognized with the Ákos Komáromi award, and the three best youth players also received a plaque: Réka Lakatos (U19), Lili Bengi (U17), Réka Kis (U15).
The match started well. DVSC SCHAEFFLER scored the first goal and led until 3:2, but then a serious short circuit followed. Loki couldn’t score for nine minutes. The girls from Debrecen couldn’t deal with Győr’s stone-hard defense, while the guests were successful several times. In the 12th minute, with the visitors leading by three goals, Zoltán Szilágyi called time. After that, the difference increased to four, but DVSC SCHAEFFLER equalized at the beginning of the 21st minute with Füzi-Tóvizi, who was voted the best of the season. However, at the beginning of the half, a mistake or two slipped in, so our team entered the locker room with a two-goal deficit.
At the beginning of the second half, ETO increased its advantage to three again with a lucky seven, but Nina Szabó responded quickly. The first ten minutes of the game were about this: where Győr led by three, where we went up by two goals. Then came a more focused period at Loki. The good defense made it possible to score quick goals and the guest exhibitions were also good. In the 43rd minute, the score was equal again. However, it failed to translate. The jumpers and even the sevens were missed, so the guests again quickly went away with three. This is how we turned to the last ten minutes. However, DVSC SCHAEFFLER did not give up and continued to fight. The too intense fight led to Jovana Jovovic suffering what at first appeared to be a serious injury after she hit her head while falling after a push and lost consciousness. Fortunately, he recovered quickly, but was taken to the hospital for a check-up on suspicion of a concussion. An incredible end game followed. Two minutes before the end, Loki took the lead and although Győr equalized, we could still attack for the win in the last minute. Although we tried to waste time, we had to take risks with passive play and ETO finally scored the winning goal from a sold ball. Almost again…
After the match, the club said goodbye to its players leaving at the end of the season with a commemorative plaque and a bouquet of flowers. Elinore Johansson, who played in 37 matches for Loki, Gréta Kácsor, who appeared 82 times in the shirt of DVSC SCHAEFFLER, Planéta Szimonetta, who has 106 matches in red and white and Petra Vámos, who played in 157 matches representing Debrecen.
On the occasion of the 250th DVSC match, the best of the match and season, Petra Füzi-Tóvizi, was greeted, and on the occasion of the 50th anniversary, the award also goes to Jovana Jovovic, to whom we wish a speedy recovery!

Zoltán Szilágyi: We played Győr five times this season, and the games were always balanced, which I am proud of. Such fierce matches are always won by the team that makes fewer mistakes in the decisive moments. Győr pulled away several times, but we were always able to come back, and that is a great achievement. I’m sorry that we couldn’t score at least one point, it’s also my fault, because I led Petra Tóvizi into this mistake in the last attack. We thank the fans for their support throughout the year, without them the season would not have gone so well.
Per Johansson: I congratulate Debrecen on the fantastic season, I followed their performance closely even before I became the coach of ETO. We had two goals today, one of which was to ensure that we will definitely be in the Champions League next year, and to prepare for the CL final four. DVSC SCHAEFFLER made us fight a lot, we fought a lot and had to suffer. Luck is also a part of handball and this time we were lucky in the end.
