In an extremely intense and competitive match, DVSC SCHAEFFLER won in Montenegro, at the home of OTP Group Budućnost. They have their first two points in the Champions League!

Budućnost started the match and took the lead with Ivanovic’s goal, then the home team tripled their advantage from the next two attacks, because our team missed everything at the beginning. The situation was eerily similar to the match two years ago. Even then, the Montenegrin champion started 3:0. Jovovic was able to stay calm, so we finally scored from our third attack and after that the team started to pick up the rhythm. The first quarter of an hour was not anything spectacular. There were a lot of technical errors and bad decisions on both sides, so there were hardly any goals. We finally took the lead in the 19th minute, at 6:6… Then at 8:6 we led by two and got a man advantage, but we still couldn’t pull it off, and even then. We missed many shots in the match, so it’s no wonder that the home team equalized again. In fact, the home team was in control of the half, so we went into the locker room with a one-goal deficit at halftime. 
We started the second half at least as badly as the first. We missed two attacks, while the home team successfully completed two of them, with us having a man advantage. So Budućnost went three goals ahead again. It took five minutes for us to pick up the pace again and the score was level again. But we couldn’t turn it around, because we missed shots again. The opponent, on the other hand, used their much fewer opportunities with good efficiency, so in the 40th minute they were leading by three again. However, a few minutes later the score was level again. When there was trouble, the team always shook itself, but it seemed that it simply couldn’t step over its own shadow. So the end game became incredibly exciting. In the penultimate minute, the home team attacked for the equalizer, and we started the last one with a one-goal lead. Half a minute before the end we could have shot seven and… Sercien-Ugolin scored!!! Even though Budućnost scored again at the end, it was only enough to make things better. It was a terribly difficult match and a very valuable victory.

Bojana Popovics: It was a very difficult match physically. We don’t have the opportunity to play matches of this level all the time, that’s why we are in a difficult situation. At the same time, my team deserves praise, because we had a chance to win all the way. Maybe we were tired at the end, that’s why we missed some opportunities in the most important moments and that’s why we were left without a point.
Zoltán Szilágyi: We knew that this would be such a match and we prepared for it anyway. We had to play against a tough, tough opponent, but we put on the gloves. We relied on good defense, which we did in this match, of course, what made it difficult for us was that we missed a lot of shots. But I say, we don’t have to win easily, the main thing is that we can win the match no matter what. And we did, and that’s why I’m very proud of the team, because with great fighting skills and mental strength we finally got the two points. It’s good to start the Champions League like this.
