Fehérvár led by two goals at halftime, then DVSC SCHAEFFLER changed their rhythm and turned the match in their favor with ten minutes of intense play.
Kata Juhász was unable to play due to a minor injury, and Nina Szabó, who was rehabilitating after a torn cruciate ligament, was the only player missing from the squad, but both were there in the stands cheering for their teammates.
In fact, our team deserved the encouragement, as the agile handball team of Fehérvár was an equal opponent to DVSC SCHAEFFLER throughout the first half, and the visitors were mostly leading. In the previous round, the Basque team AAlla, who defended 50 percent against Kisvárda, repeatedly caught the home team, but the Debrecen team had serious problems not only in attack but also in defense. Bettina Kocsis had five goals and Kitti Szabó had already scored six goals at halftime, while Fehérvár scored 16 in total. The most lacking was discipline at the back and accuracy up front, so it’s no wonder that we ended up with a two-goal deficit.
In the second half, DVSC SCHAEFFLER changed the rhythm, so at the beginning of the 38th minute we were already leading by two. A little tougher defense, a little more speed and the real difference between the two teams was already apparent. The home team was racing, and the Fehérvár team could not do anything with this speed. In the 47th minute we were already leading by seven. Although the guests scored three more goals in the continuation, the victory was no longer in danger.

COACHES:
Zoltán Szilágyi: I’m not saying that we played badly in the first half, because we had our chances, we just didn’t score them. Of course, I can’t be satisfied with the first 30 minutes. We discussed at halftime that we needed to play much more concentrated, both up front and back. We started the second half the way we should, we played at our own speed and were more accurate with our finishing, which was the deciding factor.
Szuzana Lazovics: I am very proud of my team, we played an excellent first half. Debrecen changed their rhythm at the beginning of the second half and that’s where the real difference came from. No matter how much we tried to change later on, that ten-minute short circuit sealed our fate. At the same time, it was a useful experience for my players, because we played a good match against a top team.
