Just like in Esztergom, DVSC SCHAEFFLER fought hard for victory at the home of the other newcomer and finally won by one goal in Szombathely.

Szombathely scored three quick goals in the opening half, while our team was only able to convert one of their first three chances. Interestingly, Füzi-Tóvizi scored on all three occasions. The home team played enthusiastically and energetically, while our team struggled to get going. In the 13th minute, the home team was still leading 8-7, but Bo Rudgaard called for time out… Jessica Ryde started in the Debrecen goal, but she barely met the ball, although the defense didn’t help her much either. The minutes passed, but the home team’s lead didn’t want to run out, and in fact, it even grew. In the meantime, DVSC SCHAEFFLER changed goalkeepers, but in the twentieth minute Szombathely was again leading by three goals, when Zoltán Szilágyi called for time out. However, this did not change the game, and in fact, in the 27th minute the home team was already up by four, of which they kept three until the break. A seven and quite a few shots were missed, while the two Debrecen goalkeepers made one save each after the first half! It is no wonder that Szombathely easily held the lead they had gained at the beginning of the match.
At the beginning of the second half, the home team’s advantage increased to four goals again, but after that DVSC SCHAEFFLER started to catch up. Catherine Gabriel made a few saves, which was enough for us to equalize at the beginning of the 42nd minute with Jovovics’ seven-meter shot (19-19). It is another matter that by then our third player had already tried from the seven-meter line, after Töpfner and Hornyák also made mistakes. However, the home team stubbornly held on, regaining the lead, which we were only able to equalize after a good five minutes. With Jovovics’ goal, we finally took the lead, for the first time in the 49th minute! The last ten minutes brought extraordinary excitement. With Pődör’s 14th goal, Szombathely was able to take the lead once again, and even with five and a half minutes left, the score was tied (25-25), but in the early stages, the home team’s top scorer made several mistakes, while Thorleifsdottir scored twice. The final score was already determined three and a half minutes before the end, as neither team was able to score in the final stages. In an extremely close match, DVSC SCHAEFFLER won by one goal.

MASTER’S BALANCE
Bo Rudgaard: We played a tough match. I can be satisfied with my players. Rebeka Pődör and our goalkeeper Maria De Almeida are especially commendable.
Zoltán Szilágyi: The home team gave a very serious performance, so we played a fierce match until the last moment. In the first half, the defense was not working and our goalkeepers did not have a good day either, which is why we conceded a lot of goals. After the break, our defense improved, we fought hard, so, even if we were lucky, we got the two points. It is true that we could have closed the match several times, but in these situations we made mistakes.
