DVSC SCHAEFFLER’s circle of supporters has been enriched with dozens of companies. This year, the podium is the goal in the domestic championship and the cup, it was announced at the season opening press conference.
“The minimum expectation is the podium, in the worst case the bronze medal!” Mayor László Papp set the mood at DVSC SCHAEFFLER’s traditional season-opening press conference with this sentence. According to the city manager, exemplary work is underway at the club.
“The DVSC women’s handball team is one of the best brands in Debrecen, one of the most important pillars of our Debrecen identity. Sports success creates unity, if the team plays well, the next day always starts better. However, DVSC SCHAEFFLER has been successfully appearing not only on the domestic but also on the international stage for years now. More than 11 years ago, in 2012/13, we took over the club in a very difficult situation, since then construction has been continuous, the team and the club are developing year by year, which is supported by a serious, cohesive sponsor community from the background. Looking at the last few years, we have an extremely successful period behind us, five bronze medals and one silver medal on the domestic stage, and an excellent appearance in the eighth finals in the BL last year. I am confident that there will be no shortage of successes this year either,” said László Papp at the press conference.
According to Péter Szabó, the managing director of SCHAEFFLER Debrecen Kft., the group of supporters created in Debrecen is exceptional.
“I can say that our circle of supporters is also a community of friends, that’s where its strength lies. At the same time, in addition to friendships, business relationships are often established, which further strengthen cohesion. The sponsorship circle is another capital team behind the handball team. With the 12 new sponsors, 63 companies are now behind DVSC SCHAEFFLER, which is a huge number. We continue to count on the core that has been formed over the years and we welcome new “team members”, said Péter Szabó.
According to Zsolt Ábrók, the managing director of DVSC Handball Kft., last year’s participation in the Champions League was the fruit of the work that the club started 11 years ago.
“Years ago, we started working together, we started building a community behind the club. Fortunately, this team is growing every year. The stable support base laid the foundation for the sporting successes we have achieved in recent years. Last year’s incredible Champions League performance put DVSC back on the map of Europe. It is a recognition of the performance of the past years that teams such as the three-time BL winner Vipers or the two-time winner Buducsnosz accept our invitation and are happy to come to such a preparatory tournament as the 1st Kermann IT Cup. Our goal is to remain among the top teams in Europe. We want to constantly measure ourselves in the BL, but if that is not possible, then we want to achieve a good result in the Europa League. What is very important is to keep our Debrecen identity. We have a state-recognized sports academy, eight self-educated players were placed in the large adult squad this year, in addition, we have ten age-group national teams among the academy players, and the team of the World Cup silver medalist, European Championship winner junior team is made up one by one by professionals from our academy. I think the path we started on is the right one – said Zsolt Ábrók.
The team’s official jersey was presented at the press conference. DVSC SCHAEFFLER players will play for Kappa for two seasons. The official distributor is Team Up Kft.
From this year, for two years, Cupra will be the official vehicle sponsor of the club. Thanks to Porsche Hungária and Debrecen Autó, the team received 10 cars.
At the event, 12 new supporters of the club were greeted with a free shirt and a bronze badge. The jubilant sponsors received gold and silver badges.
