On the right track again

After the unexpected home defeat against Esztergom, DVSC SCHAEFFLER improved in the away match against MTK.

We started the match well in the Sterbinszky Amália Handball Hall, on the same field where we confidently won against Vasas two weeks earlier. The defense radiated strength, Catherine Gabriel excelled in goal, and our crossers were effective. The master of the home team quickly asked for both timeouts, but this did not help the blue and whites either, our advantage grew to a sizeable one by the break. In the continuation, Míra Vámos flashed on the left wing, and soon our advantage increased to ten and then thirteen goals. In the first half, MTK’s concentration dropped a bit, and MTK suffered from a huge disadvantage, but the overall picture is still encouraging after last week’s slap.

We wish Lili Bató, who suffered a seemingly serious injury, a speedy recovery!

Coaches’ speeches:
Attila Vágó: – Congratulations to Debrecen, the match was decided at the beginning of the first half, we chose the wrong solutions, and the extra goalkeeping performance of the opponent did not make our job easier either. And Lili Bató’s injury took a toll on the team. We had to operate in a completely unusual formation, but compared to that, we cosmeticized the result. We have to work a lot and change our mentality, and in two weeks we have an important match.

Zoltán Szilágyi: – The most important thing in this match was the reaction to last week’s defeat. Our defense was great, we played with good rhythm and concentration, so we were able to decide the match in the first half. I have such a sense of loss that we let the thirteen-goal advantage go at the end, but I feel that we managed to prove that last week was more of a derailment than a result that reflected the team’s skills.
