Champions League continues in Brest

On Saturday at 6:00 p.m., DVSC SCHAEFFLER will continue its CL participation at the home of Brest Bretagne Handball. The meeting will be broadcast live by Sport 1.

On October 28, DVSC SCHAEFFLER played the most memorable match in the Champions League against Brest Bretagne Handball in Hódos. The girls from Debrecen produced an almost flawless performance against the French star team, which was considered much more likely in advance, and finally won 31-24, causing perhaps the biggest surprise of the CL season so far. The French team has since gotten over the shock, and is understandably preparing to retaliate on the first Saturday of January.
According to preliminary reports, a full house will be waiting for the teams in the Brest Arena, which can accommodate 4,077 spectators at the handball matches. DVSC SCHAEFFLER has played in two stakes matches since the end of the World Cup. On the penultimate day of the year 2023, the team from Debrecen confidently won in Kisvárda, and then on Wednesday they easily won the two championship points against Kozármisleny.
The condition of Liliána Csernyanszki, who has been suffering from a back injury in recent weeks, has improved a lot, so our young manager also traveled to the first CL match of the new year. The team practiced in Hódos on Friday morning, and then the girls took a bus to Debrecen Airport, from where they took a special plane to the port city of 140,000 inhabitants on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. The team is scheduled to land in Stuttgart and arrive in Brest around seven o’clock in the evening, after which they will take up their accommodation. On Saturday morning, another training session is included in the program, then the first Champions League match of 2024 starts at 6 p.m.

“We’re really looking forward to playing in the Champions League again, that’s why we worked in the last period and throughout the season,” said Zoltán Szilágyi, head coach of DVSC SCHAEFFLER, before leaving for France. – We want to continue what we started in the fall in the CL, and I see the girls as determined accordingly. We are aware that this will be a completely different match than the one we played against the French in October. It is certain that Brest wants to fight back for the defeat in Debrecen, and we want to play a good game again!”
The Brest Bretagne Handball-DVSC SCHAEFFLER match will be led by two ladies from North Macedonia, Marija Ilijeva and Szilvana Karbeszka, and the EHF inspector of the match will be Belgian Klaus Dieter Convents. The meeting will be broadcast live on the Sport1 channel!
