DVSC SCHAEFFLER played an acceptable first half but collapsed in the second half against Győr which played very well.

The Audi Aréna audience was waiting for a historic match, as two Hungarian teams have never met in the BL group stage, and Loki played against another Hungarian team for the first time in its long cup history. The match started with a beautiful long shot goal by Gréta Kácsor, but we could not be happy for long, as ETO quickly took the lead back. At that time the hosts were not able to step in yet. In the second 15 minutes of the half, in addition to the good defense, we could enjoy the good performance of Liliána Csernyanszki. One of Cseri’s bombs shot from ground could candidate for the goal of the round with reason.

Unfortunately, the four-goal difference at half-time quickly increased quickly in the first stage in second half, because we played handball deconcentrated, with a lot of mistakes. Although Zoltán Szilágyi asked timeout twice in three minutes, there was no chance to turn back at that point. The difference quickly rised to ten goals, and although we managed to lowered deficit, made mistakes again in the key moments, so in the end the scissors opened up a lot. This time, it was not possible to play as close a match against Győri as it was three times last season. We have to learn from our mistakes, but there is no time for bitterness, as we have a league match against Dunaújváros on Wednesday, and next Sunday we will host Bietigheim in the Champions League third round.

Ulrik Kirkely: Debrecen is an excellent, well-organized team. They have very short, fast players who are dangerous one-on-one. We knew that we had to play at a higher level, both in terms of the hardness of our defense and in terms of pace, than in the previous games. Actually, we were only able to let loose a little from the middle of the second half, knowing that we had a clear advantage, from there we could really play a fun game. At the same time, I am very happy that Debrecen is here, it deserved the opportunity to be here. I am confident that the Hungarian teams can make history together in the BL.

Zoltán Szilágyi: First of all, I would like to congratulate Győr. They dominated the match throughout, but we still held our own in the first half. The tide turned in the second half. We missed our opportunities, and from those we scored easy goals and got to the point where Győr could play a joyous game. We tried to change, the 7 on 6 game even as it worked, but our defense completely fell apart, especially with the linebackers we couldn’t do anything. The home team deservedly won the match.
