DVSC SCHAEFFLER countinues its Champions League adventure in Győr at four o’clock on Saturday. The Hungarian parties started CL with win.
DVSC SCHAEFFLER played more than hundred matches against Győr, in the Hungarian First Division, Hungarian Cup even Rural Championship however never played in european cup. ETO will be the first Hungarian opponent in a european cup.
Győr started their CL adventure with a win against Brest Bretagne, the French team has a chance for the Final Four. Lifts the value of two points the fact that ETO had adventurous trip to Brest they arrived in the west coast of France with 24 hour later caused by missed flight from Paris. All of this was not visible in the team’s performance on Sunday, as they won 24-23 in an extremely intense match. The result also showed that Győr quickly got over the shock caused by the unexpected championship defeat against Mosonmagyaróvár, and the slap only made the team’s classics more defiant. On Wednesday’s Hungarian championship match against MTK, we once again saw a handball team playing with ease and at a great pace, which defeated their opponent 38-24.
Our team had the second long journey this week after Wednesday when they traveled to Balatonboglár. Currently, the target is the center of Kisalföld the team started their trip at 10 am from Hódos and they occupied their rooms at the Hotel Famulus after three in the afternoon. Not long after, the team left for Saturday’s BL match at the Audi Arena.
“It was a long journey, but we are still fresh, the team is in good shape, we are confident before Saturday’s Champions League match – said Konszuéla Hámori in the Audi Arena before Friday afternoon’s training – It is always difficult to play in Győr, it’s almost impossible to win, so for the first time this season we enter the field as underdogs. But last year we were very close to ETO in the two championships and in the semi-finals of the Hungarian Cup, if we can play a close match again this time, then anything can happen in the final game.”
Two Serbian ladies, Vanja Antics and Jelena Jakovljevics, will be the referees at Győr Audi ETO KC–DVSC SCHAEFFLER Champions League group match starting at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, at the Audi Aréna (9027, Győr, Tóth László utca). The EHF referee of the match will be the former world-class Slovenian handball player, three-time BL winner Anja Freser. The match will be broadcast live on the Sport1 television channel.
